Bugriser Gashtoph is one of the Four Great Nobles of the New Kingdom Atismata.

Appearance[]

Bugriser is a large and middle-aged man with a good complexion.[1] He has red hair.[2]

Personality[]

Bugriser can be disrespectful to Raffi Atismata, his own queen, due to Raffi's dependence on the Four Great Nobles for her position. He also does not care when others criticise him for this attitude.[3]

History[]

Background[]

Ymir Nobility Arc[]

Bugriser (though he is not named at the time) participates in a meeting with the rest of the Four Great Nobles, Queen Raffi, Prime Minister Nulph and an army vice-commander. They discuss the issue of Poseidon, one of the seven Ragnarok which is now beginning to awaken. Warg Kreutzer eventually proposes having his son defeat the Ragnarok.[1]

Ries Island Arc[]

In another meeting, Bugriser and the others discuss the Old Empire remnant army, which has allied with the Heiburg Republic and will eventually return to attack the New Kingdom again. He initially calls the topic boring, causing Nulph and then Dist Ralgris to criticise him. Bugriser asks how they should deal with this situation, since he and the other Great Nobles have few good Drag-Knights to lend to the kingdom. Zagha Schultzed suggests having the students of the Royal Officer Academy, in particular Lux Arcadia, fight as well. Bugriser suggests having Lux handle the issue himself. Zagheed then brings up the topic of the Ruin Ark, which is being secretly investigated by Dobar Fest, causing Nulph to end the meeting.[3]

Yoruka Arc[]

During the lead-up to the All-Dragon Battle, Bugriser and the other nobles meet with Lux and Airi Arcadia. They tell Lux that he will act as the decoy to lure an army of Abyss being used by the Old Empire remnant. At the same time, Lux must obtain four victories in the All-Dragon Battle, resulting in a seemingly impossible task. Despite Airi's objections, Lux agrees.[2]

The time of the operation arrives. Bugriser is in command of a Drag-Ride force at the north gate of the capital, with the role of intercepting any Abyss that reach here. When Lux arrives, Bugriser greets him and tells him to start the operation.[4]

After everything is solved, Bugriser and other nobles attend a meeting where Lux is rewarded for his efforts. They offer to increase his reward by removing his criminal status and making him a noble, but Lux refuses. Dist comments on how they misjudged Lux, prompting Bugriser to ask what he means. Dist explains that Lux refused to avoid becoming indebted to the nobles, showing his intelligence.[5]

Abilities[]

As one of the Four Great Nobles, Bugriser rules over part of the New Kingdom's vast territory and possesses considerably authority. The existence of the New Kingdom depends on him and the other Four Great Nobles.[3]
